Wonderful Old Fashioned Radio Shows

By Marissa Velazquez

Before television was invented all Americans loved to listen to old fashioned radio shows. On certain days of the week a family would gather around this big wooden sound box to listen to all of their favorite events. This was also a great way for individuals to bond with their family members who were always busy during the weekdays. Mothers everywhere would make popcorn for the major event which would happen at night.

There were so many programs to choose from and each family member was eager to hear them all. They enjoyed listening to the smooth sounds of Perry Como or any other sensational singer. Burns and Allen would always give them great comedy along with Lucille Ball. Bob Hope was the best entertainer around at this time and he did so much for the military.

"I Love Lucy" was an instant hit when it was featured over the sound system. This woman had a great amount of fans who loved her more and more each and every day. They could relate to her in every single way since she seemed like such an ordinary person. Her show moved to television during the 1950's and was still quite popular.

Her personal life was anything but comical since her husband cheated on her almost everyday. He even let Lucy take control of their show in order to have more free time with his women. Ms. Ball was very quick to dismiss anyone who did not see things her way at all times.

Comic book readers across America and other countries know all about the red headed freckled faced boy named Archie Andrews. This was one sixteen year old boy who caused all types of trouble at his high school. There were a variety of voice actors who participated in this program. Even though this show was a hit it did not do well in later television projects.

There are many comic books which feature Archie and all of his pals. This program from the past made the book even more popular with the audience. Fans everywhere love to read about Jughead, Veronica, Reggie and the lovable Archie. Even today this book has a huge following and has earned large amounts of money.

A woman named Blondie could always make people laugh during her nights over the sound system. Even though this show was about Blondie her husband Dagwood was the one who was really funny. The comic strips are mainly about her clumsy spouse and the trouble that he always got into. Television audiences even enjoyed seeing this couple in black and white.

Young people all around should try to listen to an old fashioned radio shows. This will enhance their education in many ways and give them a view into their grandparents past. During those times there was no profanity or nudity to be seen or heard in programs. People had more innocence as they listened to Gunsmoke or any other program that happened to be on at the time.
