Making A Glass Sculpture Alberta

By Alyce Powell

Sculpting in glass has always been a very challenging and delicate form of sculpting simply because it is not an easy task to handle shards and making something out of these pieces. If one is an artist and would like a little challenge, then it is suggested that he try to make a glass sculpture Alberta. If he would want to but does not know where to start, then here are some ideas on how to.

In order to avoid any casualties while doing this, one will have to make sure that he is being covered at all times. This means that he has to wear some safety equipment as well as wear the proper clothing before he gets started. A list of things that he will be needing would be a pair of goggles, a small torch, a few graphite paddles, a kiln, and of course a pair of gloves.

So to start of, one should first put on his goggles and his gloves so that his hands and eyes will not get hurt. Some other things to wear in order to be protected would be some long sleeves and a short apron so that the shards will not go to the body. After all of this is done, then one may now on the torch and start with the building.

After lighting up the torch, then the next thing to do would be to start off with a small piece. One has to be extremely careful at this point because he will be melting the shard with the torch which means he will point the torch at the small piece. Once it is a little bit soft already, one can now make a ball.

The next thing to do would be to create the base by using some graphite paddles. Now before one would create the actual sculpture, one should first create the base so that the figure will have something to stand on. The graphite paddles are the things that will be used in order to make the base properly.

From the base, one can now create the figure slowly by building it from the base going upwards with some glass balls and sticks. This is the part where one will be bringing out some of his carving tools in order to shape the figure. Now before the building of the figure, one must first preheat his kiln.

While the kiln is heating up, one will be making the figure and will be attaching it to the base and build up from there. One will be using some tweezers in order to pull together the hot glass and turn it into something that is solid. Of course he will also be using the graphite paddle to straighten all of the parts and make it look like a real sculpture.

While the kiln is heating up the glass sculpture Alberta, one has to lower the heat every one hour. By doing this, he is slowly letting the sculpture form and at the same time not break down. After the heating, one can now allow it to cool down.
