Influential Female Singers Florida Natives

Disney World, beautiful sandy beaches and of course, Disney World all come to mind when thinking of the 27th state, but there is more to this state than these things. For female singers Florida is a good place to start their career. Women who sing various kinds of music including rock, R&B, Jazz, Pop and others are all from this gorgeous state and many still perform at various private events and in studio sessions, night clubs and local fairs.

Mandy Moore is a native to the state and grew-up in the city of Longwood, which is just outside of beautiful Orlando. Moore released her first album in 1999 which was quite popular with the teen crowd, but received mixed reviews from critics. She has gone on to star in several films and has released more songs that have become pop favorites and she has grown in popularity.

The Nickelodeon Network star Victoria Justice was born in Hollywood, FL in the 1990s, and got her break in show business when she and her family moved to California. She started acting when she was ten when she had a part in the network's teen show called, "Zoey 101" and has since gone on to appear in many other shows, including her own, "Victorious." Her music career has also taken-off with her album and her contributions to several compilation music projects and the performances she does on her show.

Justice's show also stars the adorable Ariana Grande who plays the part of Cat Valentine, the dizzy and lovable friend of "Tori" Justice's character. Grande is from the city of Boca Raton and has performed and sung on Broadway and has starred in her very own video, "Put Your Hearts Up". She has been in videos by Justice and other musicians too and has had appearances in various other TV shows.

Gloria Estefan, a Miami native, is one of the best selling musicians the world has seen and is the recipient of three Grammy awards and countless other recognitions. Estefan and her band, The Miami Sound Machine, started their recording career in the 1970s. They rocketed to fame in the 1980s with such hits as "Congo" and "Rhythm is Gonna Get You" which are popular tunes today.

Velia Martinez was a Tampa native who was born in the 1920s and went onto be more than a nightclub talent, but sang and acted. She spent a lot of time in Cuba with her husband where she did live theater. She was in the movie, "The Big Boodie" with Errol Flynn.

There is a lot of undiscovered talent in the state, many of who are ready to perform at local clubs and fairs. Many of them also hire themselves out to perform at local events such as weddings and other private affairs. There are many session singers there too, including Jazz singer, Linda MacLean and many others.

For female singers Florida is not only a good place to be, but a good place to be from. Such stars as the legend Gloria Estefan and the popular Mandy Moore are from the state, as are many other popular artists. It is home to a host of talented session and special occasion musicians too, many of whom perform at local events and venues.
