An Overview On How To Make Paper Beads

By Matthew Bennett

Turning junk mainly, magazines, calendars and brochures into decors is a very great project. Before throwing away your junk papers, you might consider recycling them into something useful. Below are some steps on how to make paper beads out of your favorite colored pieces of paper.

First, measure the size of the piece you want to cut using a ruler while marking it with a pen. Cut along the lines you have marked using a pair of scissors. The width and outline of the cut strips will determine the end results. Use a template as a guide when cutting the strips. The utmost rims are important in designing because they are the ones which are noticeable.

Second, place your dowel at the base of the triangle and roll it round itself, starting with the broadest end, until the glued point is wrapped around the dowel. Roll the strip evenly if you want to achieve proportion so that the pointed end is at the center. Use your finger to extend the glue on the bead. This ensures it is more stud, shiny and held together.

The third step involves gluing the aforesaid rolled piece of paper on the apex. Caution should be taken to ensure that it stays firmly rolled. Other considerations that you should put in place are to ascertain the paper is glued down. This ensures that the pressure conveyed is effectively absorbed. If the gluing does not work, you should apply once anew till it functions appropriately.

Next, put your bead on a string in the size you require. Apply varnish to seal the outside of your beads using a brush and leave them to dry out. This assists in hardening and making them water resistant. It is wise to twist them around the bamboo skewer so that they do not stick when they are fully dry. Use foam or a cushion to hold up the rolling tube and stop the excess glue from spreading. Numerous coats are added to ensure the finish lasts longer and is glossy.

After the beads are dry and the varnish is well set, remove them from the dowel and place them in strings. Sliding the beads off the cocktail stick is a safe way of removing the beads and ensuring the safety of your work. If some items untie, it shows that the paper was not wrapped or glued well. Think of putting them back to the cocktail stick and add more glue. Leave them to dry for some more hours.

Crafting more beads will complete the project. You can add some paint to bring out your designs and put some glitters on the blobs convey the sparkly form. Tie the beads in a string and not a thread. Make decorating patterns with the string along the outer surface of a paper. For geometric and spiral patterns, use a little wire to align the beads. A little glaze might be added using nail polish or paint for coating.

Going green by using old papers is both fun and a way of conserving the environment. It is an inexpensive project which many people enjoy doing and make good things out of it including gifts.
