Yellow turbans also known as yellow scarfs or headbands are a type of cloth winding headgear that is worn over a cap or head. Turbans are worn in different countries such as Afghanistan, Indonesia, and India among many others. A turban is referred by different names such as dastar, bulle, and pagri.

Bulles are worn by various people for different reasons. They are worn by desert dwellers, leaders, Sikh men, Iranian leaders, Indian men, children, women, and Muslim religious. Among the purposes are fashion, regional requirements, religious practices, responsibilities held and ranks. Kurdish bulles are worn to allow identification of clans and locality of the wearers.

Desert people use dastars for disguising themselves and protecting their faces and heads against dust. A Sikh turban is for covering their uncut hair as part of religious requirement. Sikhs usually comb their hair, wind and fold it up in the dastar. Followers of the Rastafari group wear pagris to maintain their unshaven beards and dreadlocks tidy. They help distinguish them from the rest since they are lowly populated.

The type of turban worn by Sikh men in battle fields is referred to as Dumalla. These turbans have a symbol of a crescent and a dual edged sword. Woven chainmail cords hold the sign in place and it is used to shield the head of fighter from slashing weapons. Yellow scarves are connected with certain groups of people who revolted against different unjust powers in nations such as china.

Members of the troop wore yellow clothing and headbands as an identity symbol. They fought against heavy taxes and unjust treatment. They considered the taxes a burden to the hungry and the poor. Principles of equivalent rights to every one and equal allocation of resources were taught so as to unify the groups. Their slogans were spread by the poor and through services like free treatment.

Bulles come in various colors such as saffron orange, deep blue and white. These colors have varied meanings. The orange color is connected with wisdom. Royal blue turbans can represent royalty and high ranks as they are commonly worn by Indian Sikh ministers. Other colors may have no specific meanings as they get used for fashion so as to match the clothes that the wearer has.

It is a common thought among many people that bulles are only worn by Muslims and Arabs. The truth is that they are worn by many people including some members of the Christian denomination. The disadvantage with wearing pagris is that some countries associate them with some terrorist groups. Innocent people can be denied entry into some states or harassed for wearing dastars.
