The Best Techniques For Turban Wrapping

By Sue Carpenter

Indian weddings are normally characterized by the finest foods, gifts, clothing, and a wide variety of accessories. Both the grooms and their brides must wear special outfits and ensure that they look their best. In this regard, turbans are important accessories that are used to complement the attire. Special turban wrapping skills are required to ensure that the headdress is done properly on this special day.

Turbans are among the most important traditional attire for the Indians. They are very popular with most grooms and brides, regardless of whether they host the wedding within their country or abroad. These headdresses are used as accessories, which are normally worn with sherwanis in order to make the attire distinct and in effect, enhance their looks. Traditional wedding turbans are usually rich red in color.

Sherwanis come in two major color varieties, namely, white and off-white. Fortunately, turbans can be used to complement either color varieties, owing to the many different choices available. On the other hand, the 'twisted yam' is the most common wrapping technique. For a person to use this technique, he/she she needs to practice some basic skills, which are very easy and fun.

Turbans are a significant part of dressing for many cultures around the world. Indians wear these headdresses for various reasons, ranging from fashion, culture, tradition, and even religious convictions. For this reason, you have to ensure that you select a color, style, and design of headgear that corresponds to the occasion and purpose. Whereas the color is easy to choose, you should learn how to wrap it for that perfect look.

Hair curls showing from beneath the headdress is one of the challenges that one has to contend with. However, turban caps provide a simple solution to this problem. These accessories have to be used in the right way to be effective. Before tying their turbans, one has to first place cotton strips, and then set the caps. When doing this, he/she should allow for appropriate clearances under the neck and away from the face.

The next step would be to secure the headgear in place. One should start securing the cloth by positioning one palm on top of his/her head. They should then pull the front part of the fabric back, grab it using their other hand, and position it over to the right side of their head. After this, they should start pulling the cloth tightly, as they make full circles around their heads.

Once secured firmly on the head, he/she needs to ensure that the style is appropriate for the occasion. The most common design during weddings is one where the left-front side is slightly elevated than the right side. To create this design, he/she needs to wrap the cloth and send it slightly to the right. The last wraps should be placed above the elevated side in order to create a tilt at the back.

Turban wrapping should be done repeatedly until it is firmly in place. On the vertical axis, one should fold and cover the wrap from left to right, around his/her body. They should continue covering until the entire length of fabric is used up, leaving 2 feet. These last 24 inches are very important and should be placed in horizontal orientation to hold the wraps in place.
