A notable first festival to consider on your Virginia visit is the spring celebration called the Daffodil Festival. The county of Gloucester celebrates this every springtime, usually towards the ending days of May. Activities are varied with parades, a 5k run, dog shows and friendly competitions. Do expect sales of flowers and bulbs also. An open food court with live music is available alongside good barbecue and seafood.

Frostfest is something that avid shoppers should look forward to. This is usually held in February in Richmond and is said to be the biggest indoor flea market featuring hundreds of sellers. It is guaranteed that you will enjoy good discounts on a plethora of goods, whether these be persona in nature or even computers and gadgets.

You can also satisfy your sweet tooth by attending an event in Fairfax called the Chocolate Lovers Festival. This event is schedule sometime in the first half of the year and features cooking competitions, bakes sales, product tasting and a lot more, Definitely a must for the chocolate connoisseur.

Should seafood ad oysters be your thing then you can head on down to Chincoteague. In one of the first weeks of October they celebrate the Chincoteague Oyster for just one day. This festival has all you can eat buffet of steamed and fried oysters, steamed crabs, hotdogs and many others. This is a family friendly event that has vendor booth contests, live band music and a fair for everything locally made.

If you want to finish off your Christmas gift list at one go, then visit the Bizarre Bazaar Christmas Show in Richmond in December. This festival features 500 local vendors and entrepreneurs all selling Christmas themed goods and the like. They also have special activities during this event but you may have to buy advance tickets.

The events and festivals covered in this article are not the only ones that exist in Virginia. There are plenty of others that you may be interested in, but this will definitely involve a bit more research from your side.
